FAQ

At Holistic Osteopathie, we take a holistic approach to wellness, finding the potential for healing in the individual and working together to create a treatment plan that is supportive.

Your visit.

An Initial consultation involves a detailed history with a variety of questions about your past health history, a physical assessment, treatment as well as discussion of prognosis and any specific exercises or changes to your lifestyle that supports wellness. This process begins at home by completing an intake form. The intake form highlights the specific details of your health journey that may be impacting function and wellness. When we meet we will review this form and discuss specific aspects to your history in more details.

How long is an appointment?

We offer sessions for the whole family.
An initial consultation for ADULTS is 60 minutes. We also offer an extended 90min initial that allows for a deeper treatment. Standard follow up is 60 minutes. For CHILDREN we advise to do a 45 minutes initial consultation, and a 30 or 45minutes follow up. For BABIES, the initial consultation and follow up are 30minutes. Depending on the needs any length of follow up session is available (30,45, 60 or 90 minutes).

How should I prepare?

Come as you are and be sure to stay hydrated for the treatment. Bring any scans or results of scans that are relevant to your current complaint and disclose any issues that we should be aware of in order for us to take the best appropriate care of you and your body and treat it in a respectful way.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable and easy to remove in case this is necessary. All treatments take place fully clothed. Sometimes we need to see the affected area or treat directly on the skin and will ask you to remove items of clothing to achieve this. If you are not comfortable with this, let your practitioner know and we will work within your comfort zone.

What should I expect after a treatment?

Our goal is to bring your body back into balance and release tensions patterns. We let the natural healing forces of your body work to rebalance your body and release tensions in the affected area. This takes time. Your body will be adapting, changing, releasing for at least 2-3 days after the treatment. We will make sure you feel lighter, healthier and happier after the session. Signs of positive changes post treatment can be that you may feel some pain or discomfort in the area or in areas seemingly unrelated to the presenting complaint. Changes in the level of energy (you may feel that you need to rest more, or you may feel more energized and balanced in your body), some people have change in their mood, emotions or sleep. In this time, it is important to stay hydrated, have time to rest and eat well to support the body’s naturally occurring healing process.

How many treatments will I need?

As your body and the way it heals is unique, we cannot give you an exact number of treatments that you may need. We can offer you discussion around the prognosis and the potential for healing. As a general rule, most people see results within 3-5 sessions and changes occurs as soon as the first session. Some people use therapeutic massage therapy and european osteopathic care as a way to stay in good health, some come at regular intervals that feel good to their body to keep them healthy, other stop in only with an acute problem or for recurring pain.
